THE LETTER PEOPLE!!
This was another great show from my childhood that was educational....and now that I watch it Scary. It is a great example of how education was mixed into an entertainment format.
I remember this show from when I was a kid. I really didn't like it but to this day I still remember the words to the opening song. I also remember in kindergarten we had inflatable characters from this show. Each week we studied a different letter and had to pass around the doll and say its letter and hug it. Ms. I scared me. Definitely entertainment/education.
The music at the opening feels folk-like with a single guitar and man singing. The yellow background was warm and with the people walking forward in a parade probably designed to convey happiness and frivolity. The entire show really operated along these same lines with characters speaking to the audience and engaging them in activities. I, too, had not thought about this in a long time, yet still knew every word to the song.
