  1. Toward the end Rushkoff makes an interesting comment regarding "too many outlets" and how "that needs to end". His example is in reference to coverage of Brittney Spears.

How does this relate to the reading this week and the consolidation of media? In theory shouldn't more choices mean more competition and that in turn generates a higher quality production? Obviously this is not what has happened. Why do you think that this is the case? Do you believe that a lessening of outlets will help to alleviate the problem of poor quality?

    Great post Rob!

  2. Also - he mentions a book by Christopher Anderson - "Free: The Future of a Radical Price"

You can read a review Malcolm Gladwell's review of Anderson's book here: http://www.newyorker.com/arts/critics/books/2009/07/06/090706crbo_books_gladwell

  3. I liked how he said we have "devolved"! its intersting that the net started out as a place where you could put information and say what you want, and now many people se it as just another place here companies, family, anf gov. can "spy" on you. as more insitiutions and organizations get involved, he is right, its not for us any more its for them.
i think not alot of people undrstand that alot of media is where it is because of pre agreed upon trade, conratacts, and money. I REALLY LIEK THIS VIDEO!
I think when the options become to vast it gets increasingly hard to find exactly what your looking for... i would argue that crowding out begins to happen and people start to just trust the media that the come across first.... people trust google to tell them what is relevant when search enginge optimization dosent always work to place the most trust worthy and relevant media in the spotlight. "selling you one thing to rob from anothe part of their company" AWESOME!!
